Being an official guide is not only having the license to perform tours and being able to enter all historical monuments and archaeological sites. It is the actual knowledge of true heritage and history that allows official guides to respect a country fully by transmitting the actual information to the visitors. 5 Things to Do in Santorini Random tips from the Santorini Bucket list The Greek island of Santorini (Thira) is in the southern Aegean Sea and actually consists of a group of islands. Though the complex is still an active volcano, it is most commonly known for it’s brilliant blue roofs. Keep in mind that there are so many more things to do in Santorini than marvel at the domed buildings. These are 5 Things to Do in Santorini but there are not the only. Santorini Winery Introduction Tour Santorini’s wine is excellent, the wineries are lovely, and the people exceptional pleasant. It’s a fun and easy manner to peer the island far away from the caldera. An excursion is the satisfactory way of exploring multiple vineyards and wineries. Hike the Volcano The island inside the middle of the caldera is Nea Kameni and in which you’ll find the island’s active volcano and the top factor of interest in Santorini. The crater is 130 meters up and takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to. The Visitor will discover Sulfur vents along the walk. The best way to get here is through doing a volcano boat tour or hiring a chartered boat. Discover the Ancient Akrotiri You need to see the village left behind after the devastating volcanic eruption that made the island uninhabitable for decades. The site is very well done and I highly recommend getting a guide to show you around the site and discuss the history of the island, the eruption, and the following destruction. Sometimes there can be guides waiting at the entrance but it’s better to book an official licensed tour guide in advance. Fine Dining with a Spectacular View The food is often better when you go to a restaurant without a view. But regardless, you have to have dinner with a view of the caldera at least one night while in Santorini. Watch the Sunset in Oia Reserve a sunset view table on one of the terraces or just get a bottle of wine and hang out on the cliffs of Oia watching the sun set. But be aware! Oia’s Sunset fame is global. So you will not be alone! If you haven’t hired a guide it may be impossible to find a taxi back to Fira or Imerovigli but there are extra buses waiting for the crowds after the sunset so there’s often no wait.
